What is an idiom?
An idiom is a word of official or non-traditional use. Are characteristic to each country, geographic region or ethnic, and many countries, regardless of size, have different idioms are unintelligible even to other individuals in the same country.

Al Chile: It means the truth.
Darle un chance: Give it time for someone to finish something. "Dame un chance, mae! You a chance"
Diay: I really do not have a definite meaning, but could be compared with the word "then" most commonly used in the rest of Latin America. "Carlos, what do you do?" Anwswer "Diay, nothing ..." (Nothing). The words "Pues" and "Diay" seem to have the same function. It is very commonly used in Costa Rica for people of all social classes even more than the word "Mae," which at times can be considered somewhat vulgar usage or current. Sometimes "Diay" can also be used as a type of question in a tone of complaint: eg "Diay? What happened yesterday?". In this case, "Diay" could not be replaced with "Well", but rather something like "Well?". For etymology, comes from the union of "and there" (idiay) but due to the speed with which Costa Ricans speak, is reduced to "diay."

Brete:It means a job, a task that most be done.

Come on, come on.
Me extraña:
Not wonder, Use to emphasize any dialogue between colleagues, not necessarily denote strangeness or surprise. "Thanks, I am surprised" or "mae wonder, pure life.".
Ni modo:
No way or it also means That's the way it is.
No invente!:
Do not lie!.
No se lo ofrezco:
Do not offer, When we have finished a product that someone wants to buy or ask us. "What a shame! But do not offer."
Por dicha:
Thank God. "I woke up? - Well, by that"
Pura posta:
Good quality.

Pura vida!:
An expression that serves multiple situations: Farewell informal toasts, greetings.
Que dicha!:
Just as well. I'm glad. Cool!.
Que pena!:
What a shame!, What a pity.
Se la pulsea:
That is his way of doing some work efforts. "Go out there with taxi pulseándola"
Se me cuidan!:
Take good care of yourself!, Beware!.
Suave!:
Still. Slowly. "Soft!, Mae"
Tiene campo?:
Do you have room?, Is this area free? is also use for hotel rooms, tables in a restaurant, car in a parking lot, etc..
Upe! Upe!:
In Costa Rica is the formula used (sometimes as loud) instead of knocking or ringing the doorbell of the house.
Qué rajado!:
What cracked!: Same as the expression Incredible!
