Palmares Festival in Costa Rica
Many
people
choose
to
live
Palmares
Costa
Rica
for
its
pleasant
climate
and
beautiful
landscapes.
Palmares
is
a
very
nice
place
its
people
are
friendly
and
respectful.
Palmares
is
the
seventh
canton
in
the
province
of
Alajuela
(Costa
Rica).
Located
in
the
western
Central
Valley.
Palmares
is
about
35
or
45
minutes
from
San
Jose
International
Airport.
Palmares....
The
name
comes
from
a
place
where
there
is
a
palm
plantation.
Palmares
earned
this
name
because
of
the
large
number
of
royal
palms
that
existed
in
the
area
before
the
area
was
populated.
Today
you
can
see
many
palms
planted
on
the
sides
of
the
main
access
route
to
the
city
and
Central
Park.
Once
a
year
Palmares
is
known
as
the
place
for
Palmares
Civic
Party
is
a
great
festival.
It
is
held
between
the
second
and
third
week
of
January,
is
the
largest
mass
event
held
in
Costa
Rica,
an
estimated
total
assistance
amounting
to
a
million
people
every
year.
Palmareña
Civic
Association
organized
the
event.
The
purpose
of
the
event
is
to
raise
funds
for
community
development.
Palmareña
Civic
Association
uses
the
raised
funds
to
sponsor
the
orphans'
home
in
Palmares.
Many
people
say
that
it
just
feels
that
all
of
Costa
Rica
is
celebrating
this
great
holiday.
Big
concerts
are
organized
some
of
these
are
free.
Important
national
and
international
artists
are
present.
There
is
also
a
parade
of
horses
in
the
Ranchero
Festival
where
Mexican
Ranchera
music
accompanies
the
procession.
This
parade
is
held
the
second
week
of
the
festivities.
Tourists
enjoying
the
many
cultural
and
sports
activities
for
all
tastes.
It
is
important
to
be
aware
if
you're
not
from
this
place
because
while
the
festivities
take
place
thieves
look
for
opportunities,
especially
among
those
who
have
a
couple of
drinks.
Let
me
know
your
point
of
view
about
the
festival.
