You want to retire to Costa Rica?

There comes a time in our lives when we feel compelled to think of the time left that we have in our lives. What should you do? Should you stay where you lived? Many find themselves thinking is it worth working day and night at the expense of our health?

Many intelligent people ask these questions before deciding to retire or move from a developed country. These questions make much sense if you live in a developed country like the United States. I lived there 25 for years. Unfortunately, what I have seen is that most people have more debts than money saved. That makes it harder to see their dream of retirement.

So if you visited Costa Rica and have thought it would be nice to live here, please allow me to give you a few suggestions before you make the first step.

The first thing that I would recommend is to visit the country several times before making your decision. It would be a good idea to visit the country for at least a season of 6 months or more.
That will give you the opportunity to learn the culture and daily life.

The second thing is to do a thorough investigation of all, the cost of living in Costa Rica. The medical care costs. How much it would costs to move your things from your country to Costa Rica. How to open a savings account in Costa Rica.

A very important thing is you have to do is ask many questions before you move and why not write them down.

Another very important thing is that if you plan to retire to Costa Rica is to learn Spanish. No need to suffer for communication...  we all have the ability to learn another language is not very hard. According to what I have seen learning another language is 40% discipline and 60% attitude. Yes, you can; you just need to think positive.

Where to live in Costa Rica? The answer depends on what kind of person you are. Many individuals find it very attractive to live near the beach because they like hot weather. If that is your case there is plenty to choose from in the side of the Pacific or Atlantic side.

Alternatively, perhaps you enjoy a little cold not so much for snow as this country is a tropical country. However, if you like a little cooler climate, Athenas might be a good choice or perhaps consider Zarcero. Come and visit before making a decision.

Another important thing to consider is to fix the legal situation. If you're retired you can do so.
Legal requirements for the Recidencia. [Or green card in CR]

You should receive $1000.00 USD each month to qualify. You need a certification of income which must be issued by the institution issuing the pension, that should be legalized at the Costa Rican consulate of your country or origin. The Costa Rican embassies do this type of certification. Furthermore, If this document comes from abroad you must pay USD $ 42 in stamps.

You also need a Criminal Record background check for the last 3 years. Document cost USD $ 42 in stamps. The Costa Rican government will require you to get your fingerprints done, personally processed in Costa Rica. as well as 4 passport size photographs.

Certified copy of all pages of the passport, the sheet stating the last entry must be copied in color to show that it is up to date. This certification is done by our attorneys.
Proof of Consular Registration, which must be made to the consular representation of their country in Costa Rica, this document has a cost in every consulate, contact our professional schedules, requirements and amounts of each.

Proof of payment of the entire bank for $50, this deposit can be paid by the customer to the bank account 242480-0 of Banco de Costa Rica.

It is very i
mportant that the receipt issued by the Bank clearly states the name of the applicant. If the residence is processed from Costa Rica must be paid in the same bank account the sum of $ 200 per change of immigration status.

You must have all documents translate to the spanish language. Something very important is to make sure you hire a good lawyer, talk to your friends before you decide who are you going to hire, like any other Latin country you will find those individuals who would be more than happy to take advantage of you.

Whatever your situation might be, please do your best to calculate and plan everything in writing before you retire to Costa Rica or any other Hispanic country.
